Incident details
(January 16, 2026 – Kingston, Jamaica) JPS has delivered on its promise to restore electricity to the Roaring River National Water Commission (NWC) Pump, which serves Westmoreland residents. The energization of the lines leading to the pump was completed on Wednesday night, with tests confirming that supply was provided. Additionally, these lines are also now supplying power to JPS customers in sections of communities in Westmoreland, including sections of Petersfield, sections of Waterworks, and sections of Shrewsbury Falls. The restoration of the pump required the rebuilding of over 10 miles of electricity lines from the power source at the JPS Paradise substation to NWC’s Roaring River pump and over 100 linesmen on the job to push to completion. JPS continues to rely on strong partnerships and collaboration to get its customers restored. The post Promise Made Promise Kept – Roaring River NWC Pump Receives Power appeared first on JPS .

What to do while you wait
Drop screen brightness, enable low-power mode, and close background apps. Aim for one full charge to last 12+ hours.
Unplug TVs, fridges and ACs to avoid surge damage when power returns. Leave one bulb on so you'll know when it's back.
Avoid opening it. A full freezer stays cold ~48h closed, a fridge ~4h. Fill empty space with frozen water bottles.
